We have a three-year university exit exam-based training in Surgical Gastroenterology in which specialized training is provided in gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary and transplant surgery. The eligibility criteria for MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology is to qualify for the common entrance exam taken by Medical Education Commission (MEC). Our department has been taking two MCh residents every year and MCh Surgical Gastroenterology at Maharajgunj Medical Campus is the first choice of aspiring young surgeons. We have a strong academic activity with hands-on training in complex gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery.

Our department is also the backbone for the teaching and learning activities on Surgical Gastroenterology for MS General Surgery Residents and MBBS students. We also have international elective students who come for observership in surgical gastroenterology.
